The Palace

Idunganran is the home of the edifice that stands as the Ogboni Iduntafa Palace. It is an unmistakable, majestic structure, reeking of luxury, opulence and money well spent, the most beautiful structure in the neighbourhood of Lagos Island as testified by residents, intimidating every other structure within a 20-mile radius.

The sprawling mansion reflects the aesthetic of the Ogboni iduntafa, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, who took on the task of renovating the ancestral edifice upon taking up the mantle to lead the Iduntafa Chieftaincy family. The palace sits on about 2 plots of land, painted in bright and pristine white, a characteristic, that differentiates it from all other buildings in the area.

The Throne Room

The throne room is the official room where the Ogboni Iduntafa attends to all official businesses in the designation of his duty. He sits in the middle, under the crest , receiving guests, holding consultations with his council and attending to members of the community.

The throne room can sit about 31 people at a time. 3 at the head of the room and 28 others, lined up neatly in 4 rows of seven chairs each. Like the rest of the palace, the room is painted a pristine white and the chairs; sleek brown leather, save for the three at the head of the room which have chair covers with the family crest emblazoned on them.

The throne room features a high ceiling, curtains that run from the top of the room to the floor, gold accent and a marble-design tiles floor.

Palace Sculptures

Among the many sculptures and statues within the grounds of the Ogboni Iduntafa palace are 5 Eyo statues.

The Eyo festival also known as the Adamu Orisha Play is particular to the people of Lagos who celebrate it with glee and fanfare.

The festival is one of Lagos' most iconic cultural events held at the burial sites of ancestors past, honouring them.

It features the famous white-clad Eyo masquerades, who parade through the streets with their staff (opambata), showcasing tradition, music, dance and rich Lagos heritage.
